RDUH Dementia Team
My Story
Running to Bring the Magic of OMI Vista to Our Dementia Patients πββοΈβ¨
We are a team of nurses, therapists, doctors, leaders, and family members stepping up to do something extraordinary.
Not because we are athletes.
Not because itβs easy.
But because our patients living with dementia deserve better.
Together, we are running 10K and a Half Marathon to raise funds to purchase an OMI Vista β a groundbreaking interactive projection system designed specifically to support people living with dementia.
π Why This Matters So Much
For a person living with dementia, a hospital stay can be overwhelming and frightening.
Unfamiliar surroundings. Noise. Confusion. Loss of independence.
This often leads to:
Agitation and distress
Increased falls risk
Social withdrawal
But what if we could transform that experiene?
β¨ Enter OMI Vista
OMI Vista uses immersive, interactive projections on floors and tables β turning clinical spaces into calming beaches, sensory gardens, games that encourage movement, reminiscence activities, and gentle cognitive stimulation.
It doesnβt just distract.
It engages.
It soothes.
It reconnects.
It allows patients to:
Safely move and interact
Smile and laugh
Engage in meaningful activity
Feel less anxious and more secure
Ensures effective enhanced care
π― Our Goal
The full cost of the OMI Vista system is approximately Β£9,000.
Our first milestone is to raise at least Β£3000 to kick-start this mission and move us closer to bringing this life-changing technology to our ward.
Every donation β no matter the size β pushes us forward.
If just:
300 people donate Β£10
600 people donate Β£5
We hit our initial target.
Small contributions. Massive impact.
